Crochet Soft and Fuzzy Heart Pillow

After trial and error and trying several heart pillow patterns I ended up with my own modifications and got a heart pillow I am most happy with!

Materials

  • Super Bulky Yarn about 150 yards
  • Size H 5 mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing
  • Scissors
  • Darning Needle

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • inc – increase (2 single crochet in 1 stitch).
  • dec – decrease (crochet 2 together).
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • FO – Fasten off
  • St – Stitch

Here we go!

Ch 2

Row 1. 2 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook. Ch 1 and turn. (2 st).

Row 2. 2 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (4 st).

Row 3. 1 inc, 2 sc, 1 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (6 st).

Row 4. 1 inc, 4 sc, 1 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (8 st). You will continue increasing at the beginning and end of each row until row 14, where you will have 28 stitches. You will always make a chain at the end and turn.

Row 14. 1 inc, 24 sc, 1 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (28 st).

Row 15. 1 sc in each stitch. Ch 1 and turn. (28 st).

Row 16. 1 inc, 26 sc, 1 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (30 st).

Row 17. 1 sc in each stitch. Ch 1 and turn. (30 st).

Row 18. 1 inc, 28 sc, 1 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (32 st).

Row 19. 1 sc in each stitch. Ch 1 and turn. (32 st).

Row 20. 1 inc, 30 sc, 1 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (34 st)

Row 21. 1 sc in each stitch. Ch 1 and turn. (34 st).

Row 22. 1 inc, 32 sc, 1 inc. Ch 1 and turn. (36 st).

Row 23 to 28. 1 sc in each stitch. Ch 1 and turn. (36 st). 

Row 29. 1 dec, 15 sc, Ch 1 and turn. (16 st). Leave the other stitches unworked.

Row 30. 14 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (15 st).

Row 31. 1 dec, 11 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (13 st).

Row 32. 1 dec, 9 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (11 st).

Row 33. 1 dec, 7 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (9 st).

Row 34. 1 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (7). Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Part 2

Row 29. Continue working on the stitches that were not worked. Skip 1 stitch, insert your yarn and ch 1 in the next stitch, then start on the next stitch and make 15 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (16 st).

Row 30. 1 dec, 14 sc. Ch 1 and turn. (15 st).

Row 31. 1 dec, 11 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (13 st).

Row 32. 1 dec, 9 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (11 st).

Row 33. 1 dec, 7 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (9 st).

Row 34. 1 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec. Ch 1 and turn. (7 st). Cut the yarn and fasten off.

 

Thread a long strand of yarn into a darning needle and starting on the left side of the heart, lay both hearts together and stitch closed with a whip stitch all the way around with 3 stitches in the bottom point. Leave an opening to stuff your pillow as full as you would like and finish sewing around. Cut the yarn and fasten off, weaving in the tail to hide.

 

 

 

This pattern can be worked with regular worsted weight yarn and the suggested hook size or size down one to keep your stitches tighter for stuffing your pillow.

 

Decorate with embroidered initials or a cute face.
